Live River Levels Widget for Silent Wake
We built a widget for Silent Wake's website that shows live Milwaukee River conditions as a simple traffic-light rating, using the owner's own paddling thresholds, so customers can check the river without calling.

The problem
Silent Wake runs kayak classes and guided trips on the Milwaukee River. Before every trip, customers called to ask whether the river was safe and worth paddling.
Each call meant the owner had to look up the government river gauge by hand and translate raw numbers into an answer a beginner could understand.
What we built
We built a lightweight widget that pulls live gauge height and river flow from the U.S. Geological Survey station on the Milwaukee River near Cedarburg, WI.
Instead of showing raw numbers, the widget rates conditions using the owner's own thresholds, from too shallow to great conditions to stay off the river, so customers get the same judgment he would give on the phone.
It refreshes every 15 minutes, works on phones, and was delivered as a single snippet the owner pasted into his WordPress site. No new software, no subscription, no maintenance.
